lts been a minute since we last talked to Thokozani Samson Nzima aka Zano Urban. The maestro now dubs between being a lecturer at a Film school and his newly found hobbie of producing music. His hit called Ngbambe that he crafted with underrated hitmaker Cuebur alongside Tshepo AMG caught the attention of the guys at Sony Music Entertainment Africa. It was listed on most of the local radio top 20s and still enjoys a lot of rotation. Negotiations ensued and we are happy to be one of the first to announce that it was sealed around October 2018, last month
So what should we look forward to? Zano is dropping his EP on the 16th of November, coinciding with Sony's release of Simmy's Tugela Fairy album. "It is important to grow with your fans hence my direction of fusing House Music and AfroSoul" he adds. Seems the trend is to lower the tempo/BPM and the fusion of live elements as witnessed by the inclusion of Tshego AMG on lead guitar.
Tshepo happens to be Kwesta's music director and boy does he sprinkle some magic on the number!! Zano and Cuebur have been at it since the days of Cuebur's cd on a Soul Candi Session compilation which featured their track entitled brand new me and on Zano's me,you,her track which appeared on Zano's colors of my soul album.
Judging from the stuff Thokozani has been dishing lately, with the likes of his recent hit "Imizi", it qualifies the notion that the vernac bug has hit him. Look out for his double cd album which will be out just After the 1st quarter of 2019.
Rumor has it that it will feature a Soulful cd, Kaya FM-type-of audience feel and a full on house cd, with the likes of Atjazz, Sun El Musician, Bhoddi Satva to name a few. Dont forget to check out our preview of the Ngbambe EP right here.
